„Pablo Octavio“ is a multidisciplinary design studio established in 2023 in Cologne by German-Spanish designer Pablo Octavio Schneider Motjér, operating at the intersection of design and sculptural practice.
Operating within the discourse of contemporary collectible design, the studio challenges the conventional hierarchies between function and expression. Furniture and objects are conceived not merely as utilitarian forms but as spatial protagonists, objects that carry individual narratives, assertive presences defined by biomorphic silhouettes, and tactile, often deliberately raw surfaces.
Central to the practice is an engagement with impressions from nature, textures, growth patterns, erosion, and organic irregularities, which are abstracted and reconstituted through experimental fabrication processes. Unconventional production methods, often embracing material unpredictability, become generative tools rather than technical obstacles. In this negotiation between control and contingency, the studio articulates a design language rooted in intuitive decision-making and the aesthetics of transformation.
Handcrafted predominantly in the Cologne workshop, most works emerge as unique pieces or limited editions. Through their singularity, they question industrial reproducibility and reaffirm the object as a site of authorship, material exploration, and story telling potential. In doing so, Pablo contributes to a broader redefinition of contemporary design, one that privileges emotional resonance, material immediacy, and the expressive capacity of form.
